Croatia neck and neck with Hungary at the top let the IHF Ranking remain an exciting story. After Croatia grabbed the top position early this year Hungary has resumed first place in the current Ranking attaining 84 points followed by Croatia, 78 points. Russia has gained 75 to still come in third. Korea in fourth place, Brazil in ninth and Egypt in tenth make another three non-European top-class teams turn the world’s best upside down. Serbia and Montenegro made a great leap forward from 17th to 8th place. The Ranking is constantly updated taking into account the latest results of IHF competitions in all categories (Olympic handball tournaments, world championships for men, women, junior men and junior women, youth as well as beach handball). The present table also includes the results of the recently staged title contests for junior women (CZE), junior men (HUN) and men’s youth (QAT).
As a rule the following evaluation criteria are taken into consideration when drawing up the IHF Ranking. 16, 14, 13, etc. down to 4 points are attributed to the first to twelfth place. The teams ranked 13th to 16th obtain 3, those ranked 17th to 20th 2 points and those ranked 21st to 24th 1 point. Here is the latest Ranking including the top 10 teams (previous rank in brackets):
