Es ist alles gerüstet für das wohl interessanteste Spiel in der Geschichte des 1. FC Nürnberg. Morgen (19 Uhr) kommt es in der 2. Runde der Champions-League-Qualifikation zum Hinspiel gegen den ungarischen Vizemeister Dunaferr NK. "Das ist eine weltklasse Mannschaft, gegen die wir keine Chance haben, Und die wollen wir nutzen", hatte Trainer Herbert Müller mehrfach betont.

Nach dem 40:27 in Rostock und einem Strandlauf am nächsten Morgen kehrte die Mannschaft erst am Donnerstagabend von der Ostsee zurück. Bis zum Anpfiff steht dann in Nürnberg vor allem Abwehrtraining auf dem Programm. "Wir müssen uns steigern, wenn wir gegen Dunaferr bestehen wollen. Die Offensive klappt schon ganz gut, aber ansonsten lag zuletzt einiges im Argen", so der Coach. Vor allem mit dem Tempospiel will der Club zum Zug kommen und hofft dabei natürlich auf einen schlechten Tag der gegnerischen Rückraumstars Bojana Radulovics, Bernadett Ferling und Gabriela Kindl. "Die können jedes Team dieser Welt allein abschießen."

Nicht ganz so groß sieht Szilard Kiss, Trainer von Dunaferr NK den Unterschied zwischen dem Deutschen Meister und seinen Mädels. "Die Chancen stehen 50:50. Natürlich möchten wir weiterkommen, aber auf die leichte Schulter nehmen wir Nürnberg nicht. Wir wissen ganz genau, was da auf uns zukommt." Die Gäste wollen sich eine gute Ausgangsposition für das Rückspiel am 9. Oktober in Dunajvaros erarbeiten.

Personell gesehen ist die Lage beim 1. FC Nürnberg unverändert. Zu den verletzten Marianna Gubova (Achillessehne) und Georgta Dinis-Virtic (Knie) hat sich niemand dazu gesellt. Demnach stehen Müller die selben Spielerinnen wie in den vergangenen Wochen zur Verfügung.

EHF Disciplinary Decision

Following the European Cup action of last weekend, the EHF was forced to deal with disciplinary procedures from the Women’s Champions League qualification match between SPR ICom Lublin (POL) and Dinamo Volgograd (RUS) of Friday, September 30 in Lublin.

Following the introduction of the new playing rules of handball came into force on August 1, 2005, rough fouls and unsportsmanlike conducts during the last minute of the match which are simply aimed on preventing the opponent from having the chance to score a goal, are now defined as “serious unsportsmanlike conducts”.

Having committed such an action just 8 seconds before the end of last Friday’s first leg in Lublin, Anna Lisowska (SPR ICom Lublin) was handed a one match suspension, valid for Sunday’s return match in Volgograd.

In the same game, the behaviour of the coach of the guest team, Levon Akopian, was regarded as unsportsmanlike by the referees and he was finally disqualified from the game after the 56th minute of the match.

Consequently, he was also handed a one match suspension valid for Sunday’s return game against Lublin and will therefore not be on the bench of his team in Volgograd.

This decision was made by the EHF CC Commission (Body of 1st instance) as a clear signal of the EHF stand on unsportsmanlike conduct.

gruppe a wird wohl dominert werden von krim und viborg, elda und larvik werden sichg um platz drei streiten.
gruppe b hat drei starke teams, milos wird da nicht viel land sehen. lada hat in letzter zeit nun wirklich kein 'losglück'. hinter slagelse weden sich dunafer (ohne palimger) und lda um platz zwei streiten.
gruppe c ist klar schwächer besetzt als die anderen. da hat hypo klare chancen auf platz 1.
gruppe c ist sehr ausgeglichen. kometal wird nicht so stark wie in der vergangenen saison sein, aalborg reißt auswärts wenig, györ fällt meistens durch niederlagen in entscheidenden spielen auf und volgograd kann seine heimstärke einbringen. offenes rennen.

Leichter Favorit in einer ausgeglichenen Champions League Gruppe

Nach den "Monstergruppen" der vergangenen Jahre wurde Hypo NÖ am vergangenen Dienstag bei der Champions League Auslosung eine durchaus "machbare" Gruppe zugeteilt. In der Gruppe C treffen die Schützlinge von Trainer Ryan Zinglersen auf den spanischen Meister Sagunto, auf den noregischen Vizemeister Baysen Trondheim und auf den Meister von Serbien Montenegro, Buducnost Monet Podgorica. "Wir haben vor der Auslosung gesagt, wir nehmen was kommt, daran hat sich auch jetzt nichts geändert. Nicht zu unterschätzen ist der spanische Meister, der mit seiner unangenehmen Spielweise stets für einen Sieg gut ist. Gespannt kann man man auf das Antreten der jungen norwegischen Mannschaft aus Trondheim sein, die mit ihrem dynamischen und schnellen Stil so manchen Gegner durcheinander wirbeln wird. Und Buducnost verfügt nach wie vor über ein unglaublich fanatisches Publikum, das ihr Team von Beginn an nach vorne peitschen wird.

INTERESTING SEASON IN FRONT US!

The group stage of the Champions League starts on 7-th of January, and due to the high ratings of Kometal Gjorcje Petrov in this competition, our team will start in this phase. Our opponents are relatively unknown teams like the Hungarian Gyor, the Danish Aalborg, and the well known Dinamo (ex-AKVA) from Volgograd, Russia.

By overviewing the names of the opponents, the job of Kometal seems to be relatively easy, but if we look at the facts more seriously, the Champion of Hungary and winner of the EHF cup last year, the team of Gyor, is a very serious opponent, considering the fact that the Hungarian teams have good success in the European competitions and their handball league is one of the most respected in Europe.

The Danish Aalborg is also well respected team. Their ambitions set few seasons ago are to make the team one of the best in Europe and direct competition to Slagelse in the Danish League. According to the numbers of visitors per match, this team is the best attended in the league. This, combined with the fact that many National Team players from countries in Europe play in this team, speaks for the quality of this team.

The Russian Dinamo has a very young and inexperienced team this year, so we expect this team to be the easiest task in the group stage. Still, the fact that this team is the second placed team in Russia speaks for itself, so this team must not be underestimated.

On other hand, Kometal Gjorcje Petrov made significant roster changes in front of this season. Kastratovikj, Boeva, Tsygitsa, Radchenko, Mladenovic and Zlatanovska left the team while Radulovikj and Nahcivanli reinforced the roster. Yeliz Ozel is still in the team, player that proved her quality and attractive way of playing in front of all handball experts and fans. A chance to do that will be given to few other players in the team of Kometal this season. Portjanko, Oholanga and Amorim and others will try to include themselves in the list of leaders of the team and lead the team to new victories.

Anyway, we expect interesting season, full of excitement and close matches.

We wish our players successful season, and lets support them when they have crises in the games, celebrate with them when they play well, since this is the first season of creating a team that will compete again for the title EUROPEAN CHAMPION.

WOMEN’S CL GROUP MATCHES SOON TO START!

After two qualification rounds 16 of the best teams in Women's handball are ready to enter the group stage of the 2005/2006 Champions League. From the 1st weekend of January 2006 onwards the top teams will be competing on a weekly basis; and the climax is reached in May 2006 with the finals played over 2 legs crowning the Women’s champion with the most important club title in European handball.

Before the group stage takes off eurohandball.com took the opportunity to talk to several representatives from the Champions League clubs to hear their opinion on the up-coming group matches.

Group A

Group A of the Women’s CL group stage will see the Scandinavian teams Viborg HK (DEN) and Larvik HK (NOR) play against Orsan Elda Prestigio (ESP), and Krim Ljubljana (SLO). After the draw for the CL groups on 11 October 2005 Jure Jankovic - representative from Krim Ljubljana Slovenia (SLO) – could not wait to get started.

“We can’t wait to get going and play against strong European teams in front of a full playing hall. Viborg is one of the best teams in Europe and probably the toughest opponent in the group. We remember them from the Champions League final four years ago and they are very strong,” Jankovic remarked.

Group B

In group B the Russian champions "Lada Togliatti" will face the defending CL champion Slagelse DT (DEN), 2004/05 CL semi-finalist Dunaferr NK (HUN), and Knjaz Milos (SCG).

According to Julia Visner - Head of the HC "Lada Togliatti" (RUS) team - “Group B is probably the toughest group. Slagelse is a very tough opponent and Dunaferr is also a very strong team to play in the group phase. But we are determined to pass the group stage and to win the Champions League,” Visner told eurohandball.com.

Group C

Hypo Niederösterreich (AUT) can look forward to tough matches in group C against Byasen Trondheim (NOR), CBM Astroc Sagunto (ESP), and ZRK Buducnost MONET (SCG). Geri Berger - Secretary General from Hypo Niederösterreich (AUT) - gave eurohandball.com the following analysis of the up-coming opponents of CL Group C:

“Byasen Trondheim (NOR) is a very young and interesting team. Probably the best team in the Norwegian league, at the moment. They have a lot of young and talented players. CBM Astroc Sagunto (ESP) is always a difficult opponent, as we know from previous seasons in the Champions League. And last but not least, it is always extremely difficult to play against ZRK Buducnost MONET (SCG) – especially in front of their euphoric home crowd.”

Group D

In CL Group D the 2004/05 CL runner-up Kometal GJ Petrov Skopje (MKD) will face 2004/05 EHF Cup runner-up Györi ETO Kezilabda Club (HUN), Dinamo Volgograd (RUS), and Champions League newcomer Aalborg DH (DEN). An open group where any two teams can go on to the 1/4 finals.

Niederösterreicherinnen starten nach vielem Üben in Trondheim in Champions League

Maria Enzersdorf - Für Hypo Niederösterreich beginnt am Sonntag (16:15 Uhr, live TW1) nach mehr als 25 Wochen Vorbereitung und einer Vielzahl an Testspielen die Handball-Saison in der Champions League auswärts gegen Byasen Trondheim aus Norwegen. In der Gruppe des österreichischen Abonnement-Meisters stehen auch der serbische Vertreter Podgorica und Sagunto (vormals Valencia) aus Spanien.

Für Ryan Zinglersen, Trainer der Niederösterreicherinnen, ist der Auftakt zur Königsklasse zugleich auch die erste große Bewährungsprobe. Und der Däne kann es auch kaum mehr erwarten, bis am Sonntag in Trondheim der Startschuss fällt. "In der Mannschaft steckt großes Potenzial. Wir sind bereit", erklärte Zinglersen.

Im Vorjahr scheiterte Hypo in der Champions League erst im Halbfinale an Skopje, in den vier Jahren zuvor war allerdings stets in der Gruppenphase Endstation gewesen.

Manager Gunnar Prokop schätzt die Gruppe C mit Podgorica und Sagunto als sehr ausgeglichen ein, in der "es nicht reichen wird, die Heimspiele zu gewinnen", so Prokop. Angesichts des zu erwartenden Hexenkessels in Podgorica, das sich schon einmal, 2001, als Hypos Stolperstein erwiesen hatte, wäre ein Sieg in Norwegen von großer Bedeutung.

"Dieses Spiel ist nicht entscheidend, kann aber doch ein wichtiger Schritt in Richtung Viertelfinale sein", glaubt der 65-Jährige. Als großes Plus bezeichnet der "Zampano" die Eingespieltheit seiner Mannschaft: "Die Stammsechs spielt seit zwei Jahren zusammen. Das ist unsere stärkste Waffe." (APA)

Torfrau Sanko überzeugte bei Championsleague-Start!

Gelungener Start in die Championsleague! Mit einem 23:21 (12:11) bei Byasen Trondheim holte Hypo NÖ wichtige Punkte in dieser ausgeglichenen Gruppe. In einem temporeichen Spiel stach vorallem Torfrau Olga Sanko heraus, die mit 27 (!) Paraden (61% der Würfe!!!) der Deckung den nötigen Rückhalt bot.
Im Angriff war vorallem wieder auf Tanja Logwin Verlass: mit ihren 12 Toren hat sie ebenfalls einen großen Anteil am Erfolg in Norwegen mitgetragen.

After the successful start of Slagelse DT in the 2005/2006 Women’s Champions League group phase, eurohandball.com took the opportunity to interview the coach of the two time CL champions and former Danish top-player Anja Andersen. Next to her role as coach for the top team in European women’s handball Anja Andersen recently announced that she will be taking on the role as head coach for the women’s national team of Serbia & Montenegro.

Eurohandball.com: You started off the 2005/2006 CL group phase with a 33:24 victory against Knjaz Milos in Serbia. What is your target for this season?

Anja Andersen: “From the beginning it has been our goal to top as a team in the season 2005/2006. After the first Champions League victory in Ljubljana (2004) we made quite a few changes in our squad. We wanted to integrate new and younger players over the next 2 seasons. This season our main goal is to win the Champions League for the third time – and make the triple. Generally, we want to set records that will be hard to break for years to come!”

Eurohandball.com: What makes the Champions League so special?

Anja Andersen: “The Champions League matches are the most fun for us. It is always a big challenge playing in another country, against a foreign team, and in front of enthusiastic home crowds on our away matches. Furthermore, I find it a very good idea to promote the Champions League as a product of its own. I believe that is the future.”

Eurohandball.com: You have a very international squad in Slagelse, including players from Russia, Serbia & Montenegro, and Norway. In what language do you communicate with your players?

Anja Andersen: “Yes, we have a very international squad. All communication is in Danish. In order to learn the language our international players are split up into small groups and they have Danish lessons 3-4 times a week. But the international flair of the squad makes it very interesting to work with the girls.”

Eurohandball.com: In your squad you have a number of national team players, who during a season are active in several competitions with their club and national teams. How do you prepare your players to face these challenges?

Anja Andersen: “We have developed a special training programme in Slagelse, where we focus less on training with heavy weights and focus more on preventive exercises. For example, we cooperate with an independent medical doctor in Copenhagen who provided us with a number of shoulder exercises based on experiences from American baseball, where the pitchers often suffer from shoulder injuries. After changing our training methods we have experienced a lot less injuries.

We also look at the diet of our players and make sure they eat correctly e.g. to ensure optimum training conditions and help prevent injuries. Last but not least, we try to plan the training based on the individual needs of the players. It takes a lot of planning, but I find that one of the interesting challenges of being a coach.”

Eurohandball.com: Around the match in Knjaz Milos you had talks with the Serbian federation about the position as new head coach for the women’s team and you have taken on the challenge for the Euro06 qualification matches against Romania in May/June. What do you see as the biggest challenge preparing the Serbian team for the qualification matches?

Anja Andersen: “Serbia & Montenegro has a very good player material, and especially the matches against the World Championship silver medallists made me take on this challenge. I will have an assistant coach travelling in Serbia & Montenegro talking with the clubs, especially about the training methods we use in Slagelse. The goal is to implement these methods across the country for long-term benefits.

During the spring I will gather the Serbian national team in Slagelse for preparations. This has several benefits: Slagelse has a very strong training partner in the preparations for the deciding matches of the Champions League and the Danish national championship. Additionally, the Serbian team can train with one of the best teams in women’s handball, at the moment.”

Eurohandball.com: Rikke Hørlykke was the best player in the match against Knjaz Milos. She recently announced that she wants to stop her career in the Danish national team. Will she continue her club career in Slagelse DT?

Anja Andersen: “Yes, Rikke has decided to stay another season. After some time adjusting to our way of playing, Rikke has grown into a very important player for Slagelse. She played some very good matches before Christmas, and she was able to continue this positive trend in the first round of the Champions League!”

The next match of Slagelse DT will be on Saturday 14 January against Dunaferr NK (HUN) – a remake of the 2004/2005 Champions League semi-final.

Togliatti souverän gegen Knjaz Milos
Der russische Mietser LADA Togliatti hat das erste Heimspiel in den Gruppenspielen der Frauen-Champions-League gestern deutlich mit 32:23 (17:12) gegen ZRK Knjaz Milos (Serbien und Montenegro) gewonnen. Die Mannschaft von Nationaltrainer Evgenij Trefilow zeigte sich nach der unerwarteten Niederlage bei Dunaferr letzte Woche gut erholt und ließ der Mannschaft aus Serbien und Montenegro in keiner Phase des Spiels eine Chance. Beste Werferinnen waren Weltmeisterin Liudmila Postnova mit acht Treffern für Togliatti sowie die rumänische Vizeweltmeisterin Valentina Neli Ardean in Diensten von Knjaz Milos mit sieben Toren.

Alle Lada-Spielerinnen waren nach den Erkältungskrankheiten der Vorwoche wieder fit und wollten sich den vielen Zuschauern in Togliatti in einer besseren Verfassung präsentieren. Dank der starken Torfrau Maria Sidorova konnte ein hohes Tempospiel aufgezogen werden, von dem vor allem die beiden Außenspielerinnen Ekaterina Marennikova und Maria Chistyakova profitierten. Im Angriff führte Ludmila Postnova klug Regie und glänzte ebenso als Vollstreckerin.

Respekt hatte der russische Meister nur vor der rumänischen Nationalspielerin Valentina Neli Ardean, die im Verein auf der halblinken Rückraumposition eingesetzt wird. Bei der Weltmeisterschaft im Dezember wirbelte sich Ardean noch auf der Linksaußenposition ins All-Star-Team.

LADA-Trainer Evgenij Trefilow sieht dennoch Schwächen seiner Mannschaft in der Defensive. "Es ist eine Tragödie, dass ich vor der Saison mit Koroleva, Lisok und Muravjeva drei meiner besten Abwehrspielerinnen verloren haben. Die anderen sind körperlich noch nicht soweit, um dies ausgleichen zu können." Auch bemängelt Trefilow die vielen technischen Fehler seiner Spielerinnen. Zudem seien zu viele Spielerinnen farblos geblieben, die eigentlich führend sein sollen. "Ich habe große Ansprüche an meine Mannschaft!"

Sein serbischer Kollege Sascha Boschkovic sagte nach dem Spiel: "LADA hat verdient gewonnen, sie haben ein gutes Spiel gezeigt." Knjaz Milos- Spielerin Maria Kuharovic hofft, im Rückspiel mehr Gegenwehr zeigen zu können und ist beeindruckt von der Schnelligkeit des Gegners. "Allerdings spielen wir zum ersten Mal in der Champions League, jedes Spiel bedeutet für uns sehr viel."
