    El director deportivo del Ciudad Real analiza posibles soluciones al problema del calendario

    Los clubes españoles se mantienen a la espera de conocer la decisión que tome la Federación Europea de Balonmano (EHF) en relación a los problemas de calendario que surgen por la celebración de la Liga de Campeones los fines de semana, lo que provoca continuos desajustes en las jornadas de la Liga Asobal.

    Los 16 clubes de Asobal determinaron la fecha del 4 de febrero de 2007 como límite para su participación en la actual configuración de las competiciones europeas de clubes, hasta que éstas no se disputen de forma genérica entre semana.

    Incluso iniciaron las negociaciones oportunas para la creación de una asociación europea de Ligas que pueda dar lugar a la organización de otras competiciones europeas. La EHF, por su parte, se ha concedido un plazo de dos semanas antes de ofrecer una respuesta.

    José Antonio Revilla, director deportivo del BM Ciudad Real, se mostró escéptico con un cambio de actitud de la EHF y admitió que no se descarta la posibilidad de crear una competición independiente de la Federación Europea, como ya hiciera en su día el baloncesto, «pero esto no es ni fútbol ni baloncesto. Yo, desde luego, no espero la colaboración de la EHF», explicó Revilla, que ve más factible crear este torneo alternativo a que la EHF reconsidere su situación.

    Aunque los conjuntos españoles desean jugar sus enfrentamientos europeos entre semana, otros clubes del continente no lo ven así «y habría que ver qué repercusiones tiene coincidir con el fútbol», analizó Revilla.

    «En cualquier caso, será un tema que va para largo», pronosticó el director deportivo del BM Ciudad Real, cuyo deseo primordial sobre este tema es «jugar la Liga con un criterio unificado».

    Sobre posibles apoyos, Revilla tampoco espera contar con los clubes alemanes «porque ellos no tienen nuestros problemas porque llenan los pabellones», y en cualquier caso emplazó a la respuesta de la EHF antes de pronunciarse con más profundidad.

    Quizás el Vezsprem húngaro era el preferido de la mayoría de componentes del Balonmano Ciudad Real, como es el caso del portero Sterbik, que manifestó que le hubiese gustado volver a jugar contra el que fue su equipo, aunque todos reconocen abiertamente que cualquier rival que haya alcanzado las semifinales de la competición continental es peligroso.

    En el capítulo de no preferencias, mayoritariamente, estaba el Portland San Antonio, no sólo por ser rival español, sino por el potencial que tienen los pamploneses, aunque para el pivote Carlos Prieto era el preferido, "por la comodidad del viaje, sobre todo".
