Two years ago in the middle of the season, Nikolaj Markussen left BM
Atletico Madrid in direction Doha, where he became a member of the most
successful Qatari team in the last few seasons.
In October 2015,
in their aim to keep high level of results and title of the major
handball powerhouse in Persian Gulf, the „Army club“ showed strong
interest for Rhein Neckar Lowen goalkeeper Darko Stanić.
The 37 years-old Serb, who was officialy named for the best goalie at
Men’s EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia, is targeted by Qatari team. He should
replace Qatari NT goalkeeper, also former RNL member, Goran Stojanović,
who is lost for his team at least for the first part of the season due
duties with the Qatari national team, which is preparing for the Olympic
qualification tournament in November.
Decision about his future
is now on German team, who has some kind of „friendly agreement“ with
former RK Metalurg, RK Cimos Koper and Bietegheim goalkeeper. The last
match for „Lions“, Darko Stanić could have next Wednesday, when Rhein
Neckar Lowen will clash THW Kiel in derby match of DKB Bundesliga.
Decision will be taken afterwards, on Thursday.
