Und heute wurden auch schon die Viertelfinal-Paarungen ausgelost. Die Frauen spielen am 23.09., die Männer am 30.09.2004.

das hätte sich Viborg wohl einfacher gewünscht ...

BTW: Das Frauen-Final-Four war für den Zeitraum zwischen Weihnachten und Dezember ausgeschrieben. Jetzt nehmen aber drei Teams an den eur. Clubmeisterschaften in Leipzig teil. Bin mal gespannt, wie es die Däninnen lösen werden.

ich kenn mich in der dänischen frauen liga lieder nicht so aus...
ich würde mal gerne wissen was es für teams im umkreis kopenhagen gibt?
und wie es in dänemark mit der jugend arbeit aussieht?

welche liga spielen die denn? ich hab lieder überhaupt keine ahnung..

bei der letzten Frauen-WM in Kroatien waren etwa 40-50 Schüler eines Handballgymnasiums aus DK vorort - könnte sein, dass die von diesem Gymnasium waren. Ich habe mir sagen lassen, dass die das immer als Abschiedsgeschenk eines Jahrgangs bekommen. Daher denke ich mal, die werden auch dieses Jahr in HUN wieder da sein.

Playoff-system under review

The Danish Handball Federation should change the structure of HBL. The criticism comes from Slagelse-star Bojana Popovic and is directed at the playoff-system. The Danish championship should be decided in a different system, she says.

Bojana is delighted that 3 teams from the Danish Handball League are ready for the Champions League-quarterfinals. However this success is the reason for her criticism directed at the HBL-structure. Her view is that it's not possible for the Danish clubs to win the Danish Championship and at the same time to succeed in the European tournaments. Bojana says: "The playoffs are scheduled at the same time as the semifinals and final in the Champions League. This is the reason why none Danish clubs won the Champions League in the past even though they should"

Slagelse won the Champions League in 2004, but couldn't succeed in the HBL-playoffs where Slagelse ended as runner up. This was a huge disappointment to Bojana Popovic. Bojana explains: "The prestige in winning the HBL is massive and we can't just focus on the Champions League. On the other hand... the opponents in the Champions League-final only have one thing on their mind and can concentrate on the CL-final. As a result the opponents will win".

This season Slagelse DT and Ikast-Bording EH are already qualified for the CL-quarterfinals and Viborg HK has a good change to follow them. According to Bojana Popovic the clubs will have to make some priorities... either to go for the Champions League or the domestic championship. The decisive matches are scheduled side by side in May.

The best league in the world

Danish coach-legend Ulrik Wilbek agrees with the starplayer. Back 2001 his team reached the Champions League-final. "The foreign clubs in the major international tournament doesn't have the strong league as the Danish. Usually there's only a single great team in their league. As a result the teams can focus on the Champions League and not on some domestic matches every Wednesday".

Therefore the conclusion must be that the strong league actually makes it more difficult to succeed in the Champions League. There's too many tuff matches.

The coach of Aalborg DH, Christian Dalmose, also experienced the pressure of the playoffs in 2003 when his team at that time, Ikast-Bording EH, played in the Champions League-semifinals. "To be Danish champions is huge and you can't ignore the playoffs. It is impossible to compare the two tournaments and it's hard to make priorities".

Divide the HBL at Christmas

Dalmose explains: "There's a lot of prestige in winning the HBL and the fact is that many Danish clubs have the same strength as those you would play in the Champions League-final". He supports the idea of changing the current structure. His idea is to devide the league at Christmas-time with 6 teams playing for gold and 6 to avoid relegation. The champions would be found over a total of 5 games with the current structure it's only 3 matches. "The best clubs would play each other more frequently with more exciting matches. This will give the Danish clubs more money . At the same time the league could be decided sooner in consideration to the European tournaments and improve the chances for a Champions League-winner".

Anja Andersen takes a break

After the episode during the Champions League match yesterday where Slagelse-coach Anja Andersen collapsed... she has decided to take some time away from handball. According to Danish television TV2 Anja will take 2 weeks holiday outside the country and be back in time for the CL-quarterfinals. In the mean time it's expected that Brian Lyngholm will take over the position as head-coach in Slagelse.

This is the moment where the most ambitious Danish Clubs are trying to reinforce their squad for the coming season. It's the chance to get a head start in run for results and glory in 2005/06.

VIBORG HK: This Friday two players will be presented. Child of Viborg... Heidi Astrup will return to the club after two seasons at Aalborg DH. Lene Thomsen from Kolding IF will replace Katrine Fruelund who will be heading to Leipzig in Germany - so will left wing Camilla Thorsen. It has already been announced that Cristina Varzaru will take over the right wing position from Saskia Mulder. Latest rumours states Mulder could return to GOG or maybe transfer to Ikast-Bording EH. At the moment Viborg HK is negotiating for a new pivot. According to Danish television TV2 - it should be almost certain that Danish NT-pivot Camilla Thomsen from FCK Handball will join Viborg HK next season. Viborg HK will have to do without goalkeeper Marie Møller(back to Slagelse) next season, but Valerie Nicolas is expected to return from an injury.

IKAST-BORDING EH : On Saturday at the clash between Ikast and Viborg... Ikast will present a new player at halftime. This should be the player who will replace Josephine Touray who will be heading to FCK Handball. The new right wing of Ikast-Bording will be Norwegian NT-wing Ragnhild Aamodt from GOG and not as previous said Mulder. Ikast-Bording is in negotiations with Swedish star Fanny Lagerström from Team Eslöv. It's very likely that the Swede will presented as Ikast-player later this spring. Goalkeeper Ana Vojcic will leave the club after the current season and be replaced by a coming star... Camilla Eriksen. Some other youth players will get their chances in the squad next season. Hammerseng has agreed to play another season in yellow.

FCK HANDBALL : Katalin Pálinger was shown at a press- release last week and she will be the new starting keeper for FCK. Furthermore FCK has signed Thomas Hylle as a new coach and rising star Mette Sjøberg(from 2006). Both from Horsens HK. Left wing Matilde Boson will transfer to Aalborg DH and leave a great gap in the lion-lineup. On the other wing Josephine Touray will join fellow NT-wing Lene Tobiasen... creating the strongest right wing in the league. At the moment FCK could be loosing Leila Lejeune(?) and Camilla Thomsen(Viborg?) this summer. The club has announced further 2 star players that will sign for the club.

SLAGELSE DT : Anja Andersen wanted Liudmiela Bodnieva from Krim, but it wasn't to be. Anja Andersen has already created the team she wants for the following season. However Slagelse has just signed left wing Sofie Steffensen from TMS Ringsted and maybe Valentina Radulovic plus Ausra Fridrikas will retire(?). A statement from Anja Andersen is that she has her eyes on a great right wing that she wants to sign this summer. Rikke Schmidt will sign for Aalborg DH and Marie Møller will return from loan at Viborg HK.

HORSENS HK : After loosing coach Thomas Hylle to FCK and assistant coach Anders Thomsen. Horsens HK has signed Kenneth Sahlholdt starting next season. If Sjøberg leaves as early as this summer is still uncertain. The club hopes to prolong the contract with Swedish all-time star Åsa Eriksson.

AALBORG DH: Astrup will go to Viborg HK. Farkas will go back to Hungary. Left wing Matilde Boson will join the club from FCK Handball and further players should be heading to the sharks. Rumours say it could be Austrian Stefanie Ofenböck and Hungarian Ibolya Mehlmann(?). According to sources close to europamester.dk Danish NT-keeper Rikke Schmidt has signed for Aalborg DH and together with current Norwegian NT-goalkeeper Kathrine Lunde she will make a great duo.

RANDERS HK : At the moment the club is looking for 4 new players to make the squad more flexible. One of the players could be Hungarian Beatrix Benyats from Team Esbjerg.

GOG SVENBORG TGI: Right wing Ragnhild Aamodt will be presented as a new Ikast-player at tomorrows clash between Ikast and Viborg. The replacement could already be in place as Dutch Saskia Mulder is on her way back to her former club. She will be joining her fellow Dutch players... Am morgigen Sonntag wird Lotte Kiærskou gegen Ungarn ihr letztes Spiel im Dress der dänischen Handball-Nationalmannschaft bestreiten. Die 29-Jährige, in der Vergangenheit immer wieder von Verletzungen zurückgeworfen, wird nur noch für ihren Verein Viborg HK spielen. Für die Zukunft nach ihrer aktiven Sportlerkarriere hat Kiærskou bereits einen Plan. Sie möchte als Trainerin arbeiten und wird im Sommer eine Trainerausbildung beginnen.
»Physisch gesehen glaube ich nicht, dass es noch länger möglich ist, in beiden Mannschaften zu spielen. Mit der Entscheidung kann ich aber gut leben. Es wäre nicht tragbar, wenn ich mich wieder in das Programm von früher stürzen würde – einige Beschwerden würden wieder zum Vorschein kommen«, begründet Kiærskou ihren Abschied vom Nationalteam.
Es sei aber ärgerlich, sich von Kolleginnen verabschieden zu müssen, die um die 30 Jahre alt und somit im besten Handballalter sind, gesteht Lotte Kiærskou. Dieses Alter erreicht sie erst im kommenden Sommer.
Lösungsvorschläge, wie man in Zukunft auch noch mit 30 und darüber hinaus der Doppelbelastung standhalten kann, hat die Viborg-Handballerin parat: »Der einzige Weg ist, die Endrunden zu reduzieren. Ich hoffe, dass der dänische Handballverband entsprechend Druck machen kann«, so Kiærskou, die sich auch das Beispiel aus dem Fußball vorstellen kann, wonach Endrunden vor Welt- und Europameisterschaften nur alle vier Jahre ausgetragen werden. Die Turniere würden dann auch sowohl für Spieler als auch Zuschauer –attraktiver sein.
Dass einige Handballfachleute die hohe Anzahl von ausländischen Spielern in dänischen Teams kritisch beäugen und befürchten, dies könnte vielen jungen Nachwuchsspielern in deren Entwicklung schaden, sieht Kiærskou ihrerseits nicht so dramatisch. »Ich betrachte die Sache eigentlich sehr positiv – das Lustige ist ja, dass wir gerade eine ganz junge Mannschaft zu den Europameisterschaften geschickt haben und wir haben niemals so viele Ausländer in der dänischen Liga gehabt wie jetzt – und trotzdem kommt die junge Nationalmannschaft mit einer Silbermedaille nach Hause«, verdeutlicht die 110-malige Nationalspielerin.
»Ich zähle die dänische Nationalmannschaft immer noch zur Weltelite. Die waren so knapp dran, bei der EM Gold zu gewinnen, obwohl fünf oder sechs Spieler aus der Olympiamannschaft fehlten. Es wird mindestens jede zweite Endrunde Medaillen geben«, glaubt Kiærskou.
Auf den Posten als Nationaltrainerin angesprochen, erklärt Kiærskou mit einem Grinsen: »Man soll niemals nie sagen. Aber ich muss sagen, dass es schwer sein wird, Jan Pytlick und Kim Jensen nachzufolgen. Sie haben ihre Sache richtig gut gemacht. Aber es kann natürlich ein Ziel sein – ein großes Ziel«, so die ausgebildete Pädagogin.
»Ich möchte individueller mit den einzelnen Spielern arbeiten. Einfühlungsvermögen ist sicherlich ein wichtiges Wort in diesem Zusammenhang, aber ich finde, dass man in dieser Richtung viele Möglichkeiten hat. Ich weiß, wie wichtig es für das eigene Spiel ist, dass der Trainer einem vertraut«, erklärt Kiærskou, die der mentalen Arbeit viel Bedeutung beimisst.
»Handball ist ein Mannschaftssport – zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt geht die Tendenz dahin, dass die Spieler zu einer Masse werden. Aber Menschen senden ja die ganze Zeit Signale zueinander. Damit möchte ich mich als Trainer mehr auseinandersetzen«, so Kiærskou, die in ihrer bisherigen Karriere mehrere nationale und internationale Titel sammeln konnte – unter anderem gewann sie 2000 und 2004 die Goldmedaille bei den Olympischen Spielen.

Wilbek will be back on the Viborg-bench when Viborg HK travels to Dunaujvaros to challenge Dunaferr NK. The current assistant-coach for Viborg HK, Søren Hildebrand, will be busy coaching the NT of Greenland in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Therefore Wilbek will be assisting head-coach Ryan Zinglersen. This will certainly be giving the whole Viborg-squad a boost with the legend giving instructions. In Slagelse... Anja Andersen has returned from her holiday and she will be ready to the trip to Spain against Orsan Prestigio on Saturday.

Hm, Camilla Andersen hats noch immer drauf, schießt Meister Viborg fast im Alleingang ab. Man darf halt solche Turniere wie in Schmelz vor Saisonbeginn nicht überbewerten, wo Camilla eher den Anschein erweckte, sich beim FCK langsam zur Ruhe zu setzen.
